Avila Beach Wheelchair

avila-beach-wheelchair Avila Beach has a motorized beach wheelchair that can be checked out for FREE by anyone who uses a wheelchair or has difficulty walking on the beach. This motorized wheelchair is called the Beach Cruzr and features a joystick control that allows the rider to independently propel the chair all over Avila Beach. Avila Beach is currently one of only 3 public beaches in California that has a motorized wheelchair for beachgoers to use.

Checkout Procedure:

To make a reservation, please contact John Lee (805-748-2434).

Please call at least 24 hours in advance to make a reservation, in order to ensure that the beach wheelchair will be available for you to use.

A volunteer will retrieve the beach chair for you at Avila Beach and show you how to use it.

This beach chair is only available for use at Avila Beach.

Riders can use the beach wheelchair for up to 2 hours at a time.

Young children may use the beach wheelchair with adult supervision.

There is also a manual (“push”) beach wheelchair that can be checked out for FREE at the Avila Lighthouse Suites (call 805-627-1900) in Avila Beach.
